Our Story: Bringing Authentic Pakistani Flavours to Winnipeg, Manitoba
A-One Restaurant was founded with a clear mission: to bring the true, uncompromised flavours of Pakistani and Punjabi cooking to Winnipeg — a city that, for a long time, had limited access to authentic halal South Asian cuisine. The restaurant established its home at 166 Meadowood Drive in Winnipeg's southeast St. Vital area and announced its launch through Madina Grocers, a well-known local South Asian grocery store, reflecting strong ties to Winnipeg's established South Asian business community.
From day one, the focus has been on quality ingredients, traditional cooking methods — including a wood-fired tandoor — and a welcoming space for the local community. The menu draws on time-honoured recipes from across the Indian subcontinent: from smoky Chicken Karahi and slow-cooked Mutton Biryani, to creamy Butter Chicken, crispy Halal Samosas, and signature BBQ platters hot off the tandoor. The kitchen takes pride in using freshly ground spices, house-made chutneys, and hand-rolled breads baked daily.
Beyond traditional dine-in service, A-One Restaurant has become a community hub — offering a monthly tiffin service that delivers home-style meals to students and working families, festive buffets during Ramadan and Eid, and a beloved weekend Halwa Puri Nashta (breakfast) that draws crowds every Saturday and Sunday morning. The restaurant also caters private and corporate events with fully customised menus. Rated 4.4 out of 5 based on 478+ reviews, guests consistently praise the flavourful food, cozy and welcoming atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and the feeling that every meal is lovingly prepared.
